You give it a transparent sidewall, that’s how. Regardless of the colour of the sidewall, this tyre is widely considered to be one of the best all-round road tyres ever made. Once again, Continental have demonstrated their commitment to continuous innovation, and delivered a lighter, faster tyre with more grip and puncture protection than previous attempts.
Compounding Spice
The sidewall might be transparent but that doesn’t mean this version is missing any of the trademark technology you’d expect from Continental. Like the regular version, this transparent tyre features the tyre maker’s famed Black Chili rubber compound. The transparent Grand Prix 5000 is also 10 grams lighter than previous versions in a 25 mm width, boasts a 12% reduction in rolling resistance, and a 20% increase in durability.
The brand’s proprietary Laser Grip Technology has been used to create a micro tread pattern which expands over the shoulder of the tyre. In turn, this increases the GP5000’s all-weather grip, and your confidence when railing technical corners.
Wider, Smoother
It’s becoming the norm for tyre and wheel makers to push the width of the optimal size of a tyre. Continental is no exception and is fully onboard with the view that a comfortable tyre is a fast tyre. To that end, the GP5000 transparent is available in up to 32 mm in width. It is also manufactured with Active Comfort Technology which helps smooth out the jolts and shocks of rough roads.
Lightweight, tear-resistant Vectran fibres line the GP5000, which affords better protection than previous versions and helps to set a new standard for puncture protection in road-race ready tyres.
So, whether you’re training on Alpine peaks or racing in a spring downpour, with these tyres you can be fully confident that your tyres will out-perform the competition in every aspect, in every condition. In the transparent sidewall option, they’ll look awesome too.

カンパニョーロゾンダC17クリンチャーと合わせてPROBIKEITにて購入しました。 注文の翌日にUKから発送、発送から10日後に日本着、 日本着から2日で私の手元（九州地方）に届きました。 配送状況の追跡も英語のサイトですが分かりやすいです。 ちなみに同じ追跡番号を日本郵便の国際郵便追跡でも確認できます。 タイヤ性能も満足です。３００kmほど走った現時点の感想ですが しなやか、なめらかでグリップ性能が特に高く感じます。 高いグリップ性能は特にダウンヒルで顕著に感じることができます。 ロードノイズが少々大きく感じますが問題ありません。 少々荒い路面を走った後も傷はほぼついておらず耐久性も高いようです。 transparentのデザインもカッコよく気に入っています。 全体的に大満足です。新しいタイヤを何にするか迷っているなら是非お勧めします。
